“For prayer is nothing else than being on terms of friendship with God.” – St. Teresa of Avila

St. Teresa Youth Ministry strives to help youth and teens build a stronger friendship with God through fun, fellowship, and faith. Our youth group provides a safe environment to ask questions, discuss, and share their faith journey. We help youth learn how to engage their spirituality and offer them the opportunity to:

  • Provide service to others in their communities
  • Meet other like-minded teens that can share in their faith journey
  • And to become closer to God through a variety of experiences

High School Youth Group (9-12)

Our High School Youth Group meets on the 2nd Sunday of every month from Sept. to May after the noon mass at 1 pm until 3 pm in the Youth Room in Schoppol Hall. All teens are welcome whether they are from St. Teresa of Avila or not, and even if they are not Catholic. Teens are welcome to bring their friends and enjoy an afternoon of games, activities, crafts, spiritual discussions, and delicious food! Our High School Youth Group is an event based Youth Ministry where we provide the teens with a large variety of different experiences that provide social, spiritual, and service opportunities. These special events occur once or twice every month. This includes but is not limited too:

Ole5k, Haunted Halloween Happening, Halloween Bonfire, March for Life, Color War, Church Crawl, Mass Mob, St. Anthony Tour, Pirates Game, Laser Tag, Bowling, Phipps Conservatory, Pittsburgh Zoo, Lock In, Life Size Manger, Family Movie Night, St. Teresa Drive-In, Kennywood, and more.

Youth Ministry Brunch
Several times a year we will be working with Joyful Noise to host a Youth Ministry Brunch. This is a joint Middle School & High School Youth Group event. Teens and their families are welcome to join us after the 10 am mass for a delicious brunch!

Special Summer Events
In the summer we do the Ice Cream Tour, which takes teens on a tour of various ice cream parlors around Pittsburgh. We also have a high school softball team for the parish that all teens from 9th to 12th grade are welcome to participate in. And last but not least we take teens every year on a service trip through Catholic Heart Work Camp, where the teens get to travel to another city and help serve others, while having fun and growing closer to God. We also attend the leadership retreat One Bread One Cup, which teaches teens skills to better serve their parish community and improve their faith life by acting as young Catholic leaders.

Adult Core Team
Includes the youth minister and adults who plan the monthly get together and special events, and lead the teens to be affirmed, educated and challenged to live the Gospel. The adults also assist the youth minister where needed in various youth events and activities throughout the year.

Adult Support Team
